As specials design editor, I was in charge of designing the 2022 Welcome Edition. The Daily UW publishes a 3-part edition every September in order to "Welcome" the students back to the university. The theme we chose for this 3 part edition was The New Yorker, so it was my goal for the design to mimic their style.
These are the three covers, one for each part of the edition. The themes for each part was CAMPUS, DISTRACTIONS, and IMPACT. The illustrations in the center was done by our illustration editor, Ayianna Hopkins, but the graphic elements and typography was done by me.

This was my first time putting together a comprehensive style guide for the edition. A lot of thought was put into picking the typefaces, colors, and grids in order to make the whole edition seem cohesive.
